Amsterdam never disappoints, and neither did the Pulitzer. Nestled in the heart of the city, right along the canals, this historic hotel combines quintessential Dutch charm with refined luxury. During my recent three-day escape, I had the chance to experience two of their iconic suites—each with its own story to tell.

View of the canal

Day 1: Arrival & the Porcelain Suite
Walking into the Pulitzer feels like stepping into a curated museum of 17th-century canal houses—except with plush bedding and five-star service. My first night was in the Porcelain Suite, and it was love at first sight. Inspired by Delftware ceramics, the suite glowed in calming blue-and-white tones. Walls were adorned with delicate porcelain displays and hand-painted details, making the room feel both artistic and intimate.
From the large windows, I could see bicycles gliding along the canal and boats bobbing lazily on the water. The light shifted gorgeously throughout the day, making it hard to leave the room. But when I did venture out, I found myself just steps from the Jordaan, the Anne Frank House, and boutique-lined Nine Streets.

Day 2: Exploring Amsterdam & Back to Comfort
I spent the day wandering the nearby quarters, taking in the cobbled streets, art galleries, and cozy cafes. Returning to the hotel felt like coming back to a serene, private sanctuary. The Porcelain Suite offered a perfect nook for an espresso and a journal session with a view.

Dinner at Jansz. (the hotel’s restaurant) was a highlight—a modern take on classic European cuisine, served in a setting that’s both elegant and relaxed. Their local trout dish and inventive cocktails were a reminder of why staying at Pulitzer is about more than just a beautiful room; it’s about the full experience.

Day 3: The Antique Collector’s Dream
For my final night, I switched to the Antique Collector’s Suite, a different kind of magic. Dark wood, vintage furniture, and rich textures set the tone. Every corner had a piece that sparked curiosity: aged globes, old books, baroque mirrors. It was like staying in the attic of a well-traveled historian—if that attic had a marble bathroom and premium linens.
What made this suite unforgettable was again the view. Framed by traditional Dutch windows, the canals shimmered at dusk, and I spent hours just watching the city transition into night.

Final Thoughts: A Timeless Escape in the City’s Beating Heart
What makes Pulitzer Amsterdam special isn’t just its location (though being in the city center, right on the canal, is unbeatable). It’s how every detail tells a story—from the architecture and design to the views and service.
In three days, I felt like I’d lived three lives: an art enthusiast in the Porcelain Suite, a local explorer through the Jordaan, and a collector of moments in the Antique Suite. If you’re headed to Amsterdam and want more than just a hotel stay—something immersive, evocative, and beautifully curated—the Pulitzer is where your story should begin.
